When Do I Schedule a First Fitting? And What Do I Bring?
We typically like to start fittings about 2-3 months prior to the wedding so that we can have 2 or 3 fittings with ample time in between to work on the dress. It is good to get in contact with us about 1 month or more ahead of time to set up those fitting appointments, summer is always busy and so it is important to plan ahead. I take fittings on Tuesdays- Saturdays and some evenings during the week.
Once you have your fitting scheduled it is important to decide what you need and gather those items to bring with you. This includes the shoes you will be wearing for the ceremony and any undergarments you will be wearing with the dress. For example, a strapless bra or bustier and shapewear (Spanx). We do have sew-in bra cups available (usually best suited to someone smaller busted). It is helpful to try on your dress and look at the fit with a critical eye. If your bust needs support, then a bra is necessary. Bra cups are for padding and structure not for real support. Many of today’s styles are backless, fear not, there are solutions for this. There are plenty of adhesive bras available in a variety of styles for just this reason. We recommend Allure on Grand Ave. in St. Paul or the Galleria in Edina and Nordstrom as reliable stores to purchase bras and undergarments. There are also sources online like barenecessities.com and nordstrom.com. Hopefully this helps the search.
