For all of your fittings, you will want to be prepared with your shoes and any special undergarments that you will be wearing with the dress.
Do I have to wear a bra or Spanx? Not always, but if you do need to there are options.
Shapewear: If you are considering wearing some type of control garment, it is a important to have it for your fittings as anything that changes your shape will influence the fit of your dress. Also, consider your fittings as dress rehearsals, this is your opportunity to make sure that everything is working and that there aren't any unsightly lines or undergarments showing where they shouldn't be.
Concerning bras: I do have sew in bra cups here. They are a nice molded cup in the nude color. The rule of thumb is that they are great for bust size B cup or smaller. If you are larger than that, sometimes it is better to find a bra to give you some support and uplift. If you need to wear a bra and you have a dress that won't allow you to wear a regular bra, please contact us and we can send you recommendations.
Can I get a quote for alterations or custom work before I make an appointment?
If you are looking to have a ballpark, we can say that most bridal alterations fall between $250- $500. It is very dependent on the amount of work that needs to be done on the dress and the style and construction of the dress. It is difficult to give a more precise quote until I can see you in the dress. Hopefully that is helpful for budgeting purposes.
When should I call to schedule my first fitting?
We typically like to start fittings about 2-3 months prior to the wedding so that we can have 2 or 3 fittings with ample time in between to work on the dress. It is good to get in contact with us about 1 month or more ahead of time to set up those fitting appointments, summer is always busy and so it is important to plan ahead. I take fittings on Tuesdays- Saturdays and some evenings during the week.
What if I need a quick turn-around?
We can usually make it work. The best way to make it as stress-free as possible is to schedule out the fittings in advance. Usually the shop that you have ordered the dress from can give you an estimated delivery date. We can work from that date and set a first fitting accordingly, and then a second fitting for about a month or so later.
What if my gown is a sample or off the rack?
You will want to determine immediately if the dress needs to be dry cleaned. Dry cleaning should always be done before alterations. It is crucial to use a reputable dry cleaner with plenty of wedding gown experience. There is always some risk that the dress could be damaged or shrink slightly during the cleaning process so, it is important to consider carefully.
